Pupil Premium at Bodriggy

The Pupil Premium is additional funding received by schools for each pupil from disadvantaged families or background. It is allocated to schools based on the number of children who come from low-income families – this is defined as those who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals. It is important to know that for our school to receive this funding a pupil does not need to have a school dinner, but the parents / carers must have applied and be entitled if they wanted one.

It also includes:

  • Pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years
  • Children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months

Key Objectives in spending Pupil Premium Funding

To raise the outcome, and increase the progress, of those children in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant so they are at least in line with other children by:

1 - Identifying under-performing pupils and ensuring that appropriate intervention is in place to accelerate progress in Reading, Writing, Phonics and Maths.

2 - Raising engagement through social and emotional support and interventions.

3 - Ensuring provision for personalised learning.

4 - Ensuring fair access to all pupils to wider school life and the opportunities for enrichment on offer, building cultural capital.

5 - Ensuring that children in receipt of the Pupil Premium are not disadvantaged through low levels of attendance or punctuality.
